We compared the two splicing datasets and observed a highly significant overlap not only in the genes with altered splicing but also in specific splicing events (Fig. 3c , Supplementary Fig. 8f , Supplementary Data 4 ).
Excerpts
a reliable trendgold
A one-sample t- test was performed on the fitted slopes resulting from the regression of rotation magnitude and movement angle to test for the presence of a reliable trend.
Linear regressions were performed on subjects’ full distribution (i.e., no binning) of reach angles and RTs after the critical RT bin, and a t- test was performed on the resulting slopes to test for the presence of a significant trend.
Complementary loss-of-function approaches validated the specificity of the Ddr dn -induced phenotype, as lineage-specific RNAi using short hairpin microRNA (shmiR) constructs showed a trend suggesting synergy with low doses of Ddr dn to cause a penetrant de-adhesion phenotype (Supplementary Figure 4 ).
A time course of TAC showed a trend towards induction of Thbs3 mRNA at 3 and 7 days but with significant and robust induction by 2 and 12 weeks (Supplementary Fig 1b ).
Indeed, BAK1 shRNAs showed a trend of desensitizing E7107, consistent with its role in proapoptosis (Fig. 1c ).
Although highly significant, increased lean mass observed in mutant females failed to change their overall mobility and muscle strength as measured by rotarod and grip strength assays, respectively (Supplementary Figure 2D, E ).
For the striatum we found a statistical trend that feature-specific RPEs were more frequently encoded by narrow-spiking neurons (which include the putative fast-spiking interneurons 34 , 35 ) than suggested based on the population distribution (chi-square test feature-specific RPEs: χ 2 = 3.02, p = 0.082, φ = −0.092) (Fig. 8h–j ).
For males, significant positive trends with increasing quartiles of WHR were observed for the incidence of all-cancer ( P trend = 0.01, Cox proportional hazard), prostate cancer ( P trend ≤ 0.01, Cox proportional hazard), and a marginally statistically significant positive trend was observed for colon cancer ( P trend = 0.06, Cox proportional hazard).
We can summarize these results by asking: What is the percentage of the ocean area showing a significant trend at different intervals over the 21st century?
a strong trendgold
Where some of the reflectance bands do not show a strong trend, they will dampen the signal of the change in true colour.
As shown in high-resolution C 1s spectra, the ratio of sp 2 C and sp 3 C signals demonstrated an increasing trend after functionalization and knitting, which was attributed to the introduction of more sp 2 C compared with the formation of sp 3 C (Fig. 3b and Supplementary Figure 7b,c ) 30 .
a positive trendgold
In addition to ADCVI activity, we found a significant correlation with anti-Env CD4+ T-cell response after the second cycP-gp120 immunization, as well as a positive trend in anti-V2 antibodies with delayed SHIV acquisition, supporting recent studies highlighting the importance of V2-specific antibodies in the human efficacy trials 34 , 38 , 54 as well as both V2-specific antibodies and T-cell responses in non-human primate studies evaluating poxvirus/gp120 vaccination 55 , 56 .

After stimulation with K562 or 772.221 target cell lines, infant lamina propria-derived NK cells showed a trend towards enhanced degranulation compared to adult NK cells (Supplementary Fig. 5 ).
In agreement with the finding that KLF6 operated at least partially downstream of the HIF2A pathway, gene set enrichment analysis on the differentially expressed genes revealed a highly significant association between KLF6 -depletion and downregulation of the canonical hypoxia-response gene set (Supplementary Fig. 6a ).
A 1.5-fold change expression cut-off for ratio experiments was applied together with anti-correlation of ratio profiles, rendering the microarray analysis highly significant, robust, and reproducible.
a clear trendgold
Indeed, if the risks at 1, 2, and ≥3 years postinfection are compared directly with the DENV-naïve group, one can see a clear trend of decay over time for both the protective effect of the primary infection and the risk-boosting effect of secondary infections: the respective ORs for 1, 2, and ≥3 years are 0.46, 0.52, and 0.68 for the former and 1.91, 1.45, and 1.26 for the latter ( Supplementary Notes , Section 2.2).
5d ), whereas DA2 showed a trend toward inhibition of the interaction (Supplementary Fig. 7A ).
3d ) and a non-parametric analysis of variance showed this effect to be highly significant across all mouse populations tested.
FTO SNPs become only nominally significant for both alcohol-related traits: the p value for the lead SNP for AUDIT-C, rs9937709, decreases in significance from 5.53 × 10 −14 to 1.42 × 10 −5 and for the lead SNP for AUD, rs11075992, it decreases in significance from 3.22 × 10 −10 to 3.02 × 10 −5 .
We validated the phenotype in a sample of 1851 participants from the Veterans Aging Cohort Study 33 , in which we found a highly significant association of AUDIT-C scores with the plasma concentration of phosphatidylethanol, a direct, quantitative biomarker that is correlated with the level of alcohol consumption.
The high proportion of branch neoantigens was associated with short overall survival in a marginal significance, which was probably due to the insufficient sample size (Fig. 7d ).
a clear trendgold
The development of the peak heights do not follow a clear trend (insets of Fig. 2 ) and for nearly all datasets they remain stable over time (see Supplementary Fig. 5 for full distributions, the exception of Wikipedia is discussed in Supplementary note 1).
Moreover, there is a highly significant correlation between NGF and serotonin in human and they are markedly upregulated in IBS-D patients.
