More specifically in case of 4644T>A, we observed an increasing trend in the frequency of the A allele in disease activity being lowest in cases of remission (19.4%), 25% in moderate category, 26.2% in mild and 38.9% in severe category, however the differences did not reach statistical significance.

Additionally, the triple combination showed a trend to improved survival beyond that induced by any two combinations of pSP-D-CD40L, CpG or poly(I:C), although this did not reach statistical significance in the small number of animals used in this study ( Fig. 3F , n = 5/group).

The mAbs showed a trend toward better potency against psVs with chronic Envs (AUC = 0.12 to 0.54; median = 0.30) than against acute Envs (AUC = 0.10 to 0.46; median = 0.23); this difference did not reach statistical significance.

9 – 14 , 16 – 19 , 21 , 22 , 25 – 28 For the four studies that did not demonstrate a statistically significant link, one reported that significant results had been found but did not report what the results were, 15 two did not use statistical tests, 20 , 23 and one had results that did not reach statistical significance but showed a trend of positive association between satisfaction and compliance. 24 Of the 16 studies that demonstrated statistically significant links, ten showed a link between satisfaction and compliance 9 , 11 – 14 , 16 , 18 , 19 , 22 , 27 and two studies showed a significant link between satisfaction and persistence. 16 , 19 The multidimensional aspect of satisfaction and adherence was not always fully studied.

When a subgroup of patients who stayed in the ICU for more than 5 days was analyzed, although a small trend toward mortality reduction was noted (25.5% in group 1 and 30.3% in group 2; relative reduction of 16%), this difference did not reach statistical significance.

Cavβ1b was able to significantly increase the surface pool of WT-Cav1.2-HA (10145 +/-790 ALUs, p = < 0.05 ANOVA), and there was a strong trend towards increased surface expression of A39V-Cav1.2 (10109 +/-842 ALUs), however, this effect did not reach statistical significance (also see Additional file 2 : Figure S2).

An increase of 4E-BP1 protein concentration could be due to both increased translation and transcription, as the 4E-BP1 transcript showed a trend to increase, although this did not reach statistical significance ( Fig. 3 C ).
