p values < 0.05 were considered statistically significant, whereas p values of 0.05 to 0.10 were described as borderline significant. 3.
Excerpts
(2011) did not find any clear association between FV variety consumption and bladder cancer risk; the highest tertile of scores for FV consumption had a marginally significant hazard ratio as compared with the lowest (HR = 1.30, 95% CI: 1.00–1.69, p -trend = 0.05) ( n = 452185) (2011) [ 59 ].
There is an increasing trend in publication in this area, mostly regarding Virtual Reality.
Relationships between Social Deprivation and Diet Quality Compared to the least socially deprived areas, there was a decreasing trend in the mean diet quality of people living in areas with intermediate and the highest level of social deprivation (intermediate deprivation: −0.41, 95% CI: −0.71, −0.11; most deprived: −0.87, 95% CI: −1.20, −0.54) ( Table 4 ).
Of 376 papers, 25 datasets were included in the analysis, which revealed a protective role of dietary fibre intake on risk of CRC, with a highly significant effect size of 0.74 (95% CI: 0.67–0.82) and a moderate level of statistical heterogeneity [ 79 ].
More recently, another study reported a highly significant, positive correlation between lower death rates and a country’s proximity to the equator [ 179 ].
There was, however, only a marginally significant association between fiber and UC risk [ 38 ].
In terms of CVD death, the results from the REDUCE-IT [ 40 ], ASCEND [ 24 ], and GISSI-P [ 40 ] trials, which accounted for 31.4% of the sample size, were only borderline significant, with RRs and 95% CIs of 0.82 (0.67–0.99), 0.82 (0.67–0.99), and 0.84 (0.72–0.97), respectively ( Figure A2 and Figure A4 ).
Overall, statin use showed a statistically significant risk reduction for all-cause mortality and CVD death, with RRs (95% CIs) 0.90 (0.86–0.94) and 0.86 (0.80–0.92), respectively, whereas the findings for omega-3 supplementation were of borderline significance, with RRs (95% CIs) of 0.97 (0.94–1.01) and 0.92 (0.87–0.98), respectively.
Discussion The major findings presented in this study are that both aging and lower levels of serum LC were associated with high cfPWV; as such, these factors may be significant predictors of AS in patients diagnosed with CKD.
Indeed, cells supplemented with DHA and DHA + PRO showed a trend to reduction in the concentration of total fatty acids other than DHA, and the concentration of total PUFAs other than DHA was significantly lower in cells supplemented with the fatty acid ( Table S3 ).
placebo group, n = 88) [ 23 , 24 ] were available for analysis, which demonstrated a highly significant increase in circulating vitamin C concentration in patients with perioperative vitamin C supplementation compared with that in those without (WMD = 4.91 mg/L, 95% CI 2.85 to 6.97, p < 0.00001; I 2 = 65%) ( Figure 14 ). 4.
Diet caused a significant change in the Shannon-H index and a nearly significant change in the Simpson-1d index, but no genotype effects were observed ( Figure 5 G,H).
Moreover, a significant trend to lower vein graft occlusion rate with increasing relative change in serum n -3 PUFA levels during the study period was observed.
a strong trendgold
A study [ 96 ] enrolled 472 patients with cancer which were supplemented by a mixture of HMB, glutamine (GLN), and arginine (ARG) or by an isonitrogenous, isocaloric control showing a strong trend towards higher fat-free mass in HMB/ARG/GLN-supplemented patients compared with controls.
Probiotic supplementation caused a highly significant increase in Lactobacillus numbers in the fecal samples of the intervention group compared with the control group, which harbored very low populations of lactobacilli (below 2 logs/g = 1 × 10 2 c.f.u./g) ( Figure 2 ).
a marginal trendgold
However, a marginal trend was revealed, demonstrating that fewer children with nutritional failure consumed adequate fat (expressed in g) as compared to their heavier counterparts (67.7% vs. 92.9%, p = 0.058). 3.3.
Metabolite values were analyzed in both baseline plasma samples and samples collected following the six-month dietary intervention to consider both metabolites that could predict the response to diet and those that changed in response to diet or weight loss.Eight metabolites changed over the intervention at a nominally significant level: D-pantothenic acid, L-methionine, nicotinate, aniline, melatonin, deoxycarnitine, 6-deoxy-L-galactose, and 10-hydroxydecanoate.
a positive trendgold
We observed a positive trend between DDS and intakes of antioxidants (e.g., vitamin E, vitamin C, selenium) among the study population.
When only considering non-diabetic subjects in this cohort (OBENUTIC study), the association of the MTNR1B-rs10830963 polymorphism in the codominant ( p = 4 × 10 −6 ) as well as in the additive genetic model ( p = 6.84 × 10 −7 ) with fasting glucose concentrations in the model adjusted for sex, age, and obesity remained highly significant ( Figure 1 , panel B).
Somewhat consistent with prior research, effortful control was negatively correlated with food approach and the model path from effortful control to food approach was approaching significance in the present study.
Between-group differences in glucose and HOMA-IR were nearly significant and might have reached significance with greater numbers of participants.
Unlike other studies, Marciniak et al., reported a highly significant, 13-fold increased risk of breast cancer for women in the highest quartile of circulating blood arsenic levels, compared to the referent group (HR Q4 vs.
Groups supplemented with l -cysteine or vitamin D alone showed a partially significant beneficial effect on markers such as MyoD, Mef2c, and OPG ( Figure 1 a,c).
In contrast to the genistein-only treatment in our study, exercise (HFD + Exe) showed a trend of preventing the HFD-induced decline in gut microbial richness (Observed OTUs and Faith’s PD); however, when measuring the relative abundance and evenness of the species present (Shannon Diversity index), the gut microbiota diversity difference disappeared.
