The OR of 1.32 for PNPLA3 -rs738409 and HCC risk in the combined Ghanaian and Nigerian populations did not reach statistical significance but suggests a positive trend.

A decreasing trend in serum SOD levels was noted with increasing severity of premature canities; however, it did not reach statistical significance [Tables 3 , 4 and Figures 1 , 2 ].

An overall trend toward an increase in BMI was observed at the long-term follow-up that however did not reach statistical significance due the small sample size, but in the majority of participants BMI changes were stable or improving over time [ 80 , 81 ].
